Turtle Care

Outside Turtle Care

An outside turtle can have a bath or pond to live in.  IT has to be big enough for the turtle.  Turtles can live up to 100 years so you have to really want one

  • You need to clean the water out every one to two weeks

  • They need a rock/platform or space outside of the water to sunbathe
  • Feed every second day.  They eat frozen fish from the pet shop, fruit, veges and live insects
  • In winter they hybernate,  I put straw under the water so he can stay a little warm.  You may need to cover the pond or bath to stop the frost.  I use a plank of wood.
  • They love to be with people, you can talk, or put on lawn for a walk
  • Some like to be scratched on their head a neck, some may bite
